Sumter Radio Manufacturing Co.

Many small radio companies sprang up then quickly disappeared during the early days of radio.  This radio was made in Sumter, South Carolina by Hurd Charles Tucker.  It looks similar to many homemade radios of the era.  However, Tucker was an employee of the Sumter Telephone Company, and he turned out a number of radios from his home on Telephone Street between 1923 and 1929.
